Strawberry Compote

I use this strawberry compote as a topping on many dishes. It provides a great balance between sweet and tart. Creme brulee, ice cream, yogurt and Bircher muesli are just some of the foods I use it on.

  • Measuring Spoons
  • Heat Proof Stirring Spoon
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 250 g fresh strawberries (you can use any berry or mix or berries)
  • 1 tbsp castor sugar
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tbsp water

Instructions

  • Wash and cut strawberries into small pieces.
  • Add strawberries with sugar, vinegar and water into a pot.
  • Heat over medium heat for 8-12 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat when liquid has reduced into a thick (not too thick) syrup.
  • Place into a dish. Careful as this mixture is extremely hot.
  • Cool and use on any dish you like.
  • Refrigerate and eat within 4 days.
